GB&I flipped the Walker Cup in a day.

The U.S. brought seven of the top 10 players in the world amateur ranking to County Clare, swept Sunday morning foursomes in a gale, and led by three. Then GB&I won the first four singles matches and never gave the lead back. Stuart Grehan beat top-ranked Preston Stout. Jack Whaley beat William Jennings 8 and 7. Connor Graham was 2 down with two to play against Miles Russell and birdied both to steal a half.

It came down to Josh Hill on the 18th, all square with his own Tennessee teammate, Tyler Watts. Bunker shot to three feet, putt in, 13½-12½.

First GB&I win since 2015. The U.S. still leads the series 40-10-1. Next one's at Ocean Forest in Georgia.

DP WORLD TOUR ^. OMEGA EUROPEAN MASTERS

Paul Casey stood on the 72nd tee at Crans-sur-Sierre one ahead, on a hole he'd birdied all three previous days. He made bogey. Four playoff holes later Thriston Lawrence rolled in a 23-footer and joined Seve Ballesteros as the only three-time winner of this event since 1972.

Lawrence started Sunday six back and shot 62, bogey-free, and then sat in the clubhouse at 18 under while Casey, Angel Hidalgo and Angel Ayora took turns catching him. Casey has 15 DP World Tour wins and hasn't had many closer than this. The Crans playoff record is now 11 in the last 19 editions, which is either great theatre or a course that refuses to decide anything in regulation.

LIV GOLF ^. RESTRUCTURING

September 1 was the last day of employment for most of LIV Golf's staff, and that's the cleanest measure of where this thing actually stands. Front Office Sports reports LIV is still negotiating with BC Partners Credit for $250 to $350 million and that a Chapter 11 filing could come within days, framed internally as the paperwork required to reach "LIV 2.0" rather than a shutdown.

The shape of that next version: ten events instead of fourteen, players holding majority equity. The problem is the old bill. PIF is on the hook for existing contracts, Jon Rahm is reportedly still owed north of $100 million, and vendors have gone unpaid long enough that the lawsuits are stacking up. CEO Scott O'Neil said in August the new backer was "one of weight." Five weeks later the staff is gone.

A league built on billions of guaranteed money is now asking its players to buy it.

The Solheim Cup runs September 11 - 13 at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt, Netherlands. It's a Kyle Phillips build in the south of Holland, and wind is the whole ballgame if it shows up. Names to watch: Nelly Korda and Lilia Vu for the U.S., Leona Maguire and Charley Hull for Europe.

National Club Golfer's tester put 164 mph of ball speed on the DS-Adapt LS off a 110 mph swing, spinning 2,822 rpm. That's the longest he'd hit anything all year. Fair warning: that's one guy at a resort in Spain, not robot data. The useful bit is the FutureFit33 hosel, which changes loft without dragging your lie angle along with it. At $549.99 this is a 105-plus mph club. If you swing 95 and buy it because it's the fast one, you're paying to lose the spin that keeps your ball in the air.

The new Miura CB-302 has the widest sole the factory has ever produced, 19mm in the 7-iron, with a deeper cavity and less offset than the 301 it replaces. Miura building a forgiveness club on purpose is genuinely interesting. The price is not: $350 per head means a 4-PW is $2,450 before you touch the shaft, and right now it's order-only through Miura and Fairway Jockey. If you've hit a Miura and know exactly why you want one, you already stopped reading. Everyone else, that's four fittings and a set of irons with money left over.

Six weeks after opening its first franchise in Cornelius, Another Nine announced 14 North Carolina territories, including Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, Wake Forest and Holly Springs. Charlotte Metro sold out at 12 sites. The model is self-serve: Trackman bays, 24/7 access, hourly booking through an app, no membership, and deliberately no bar and no kitchen. Nothing is open here yet, only the territories are spoken for. Whether that skeleton-crew model works in the Triangle depends entirely on the hourly rate, because the food-and-drink sim bars are already established.

RGA reopened the renovated front nine Friday with a sold-out shotgun, which completes the new 18: the old front nine of the public course paired with the former Stockholders' nine as the back. Public tee times started that afternoon at 2 p.m. A Greensboro architect handled the redesign. It's the oldest course in the city and it just got the first real reset it's had in decades, so go look before the word gets around.

LOCAL DROP ^. CGA FALL GHIN CHALLENGES

Competitive golf around here usually asks for three things you would rather not hand over: an entry fee, a handicap ceiling, and a weekday off. The Carolinas Golf Association's Fall GHIN Challenges ask for none of them. River Ridge in Raleigh is one of five host sites running through October 15, and the entry is rounds you were already going to play.

The mechanic is genuinely that simple. Play your 18 at River Ridge, post the score in the GHIN app, and the app prompts you to join the challenge. Tap it. Get three or more rounds in before the window closes and your best three net scores set your place on the leaderboard, with a CGA prize going to whoever finishes on top. No Handicap Index, or one that has gone inactive? You can start one at the course or through a Carolinas eClub. Rules and the live leaderboards sit on the CGA's GHIN Challenges page.

The other four sites are Longleaf in Southern Pines, Cutter Creek in Snow Hill, Arcadian Shores in Myrtle Beach, and The Walker Course at Clemson, so River Ridge is the only one worth your gas money. Worth noting it is the second month running that a Raleigh course has hosted, after Wildwood Green took an August slot. Whatever the CGA is doing with its site selection, the Triangle is currently on the list.

Stryker Golf Course closes September 30 after nearly 80 years, with maintenance cost and falling rounds cited as the reasons. The driving range stays open and Ryder Golf Course on post keeps running. A petition against the closure is already circulating and the post has hired a firm to study other uses for the land, which usually means the golf isn't coming back. If you've never played it, you have three weeks.
