PGA TOUR . TRUIST CHAMPIONSHIP

Reitan Almost Quit Golf. Then He Won at Quail Hollow.

Kristoffer Reitan was so discouraged after losing his DP World Tour card that he considered leaving competitive golf to become a YouTube golfer. Instead, the 28-year-old Norwegian rookie shot a final-round 69 to win the Truist Championship by two over Rickie Fowler and Nicolai Højgaard. Alex Fitzpatrick, who held the 54-hole lead after a sparkling 64 on Saturday, crumbled with a double bogey on 17. Cameron Young carded a 74 and tied for 10th. Rory McIlroy was never a factor after a third-round 75 dropped him 13 back.

"I don't have any words, to be honest. This is way more than I expected and for it to happen this quickly is just unreal."

- Kristoffer Reitan

From YouTube Plan B to Signature Event champion. In one season.

PGA TOUR . ONE FLIGHT MYRTLE BEACH CLASSIC

Snedeker Wins for the First Time in Eight Years. He's 45.

Brandt Snedeker birdied his way through the back nine Sunday at Dunes Golf and Beach Club, closing with a 66 to win the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic by one over Mark Hubbard. It's Snedeker's 10th career Tour win and first since the 2018 Wyndham Championship. After sternum surgery and a stretch without his card, the 45-year-old Presidents Cup captain now has a PGA Championship exemption and a two-year Tour card. Also worth noting: 18-year-old Blades Brown tied for ninth. His second top-10 this year.

"To not have my card the last couple of years, to be struggling to do what I love." Snedeker's voice cracked. Then he smiled.

LOOKING AHEAD

PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club

The second major of the year heads to Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, a Donald Ross design that last hosted a major in 1962. Scottie Scheffler defends, Rory McIlroy chases back-to-back majors and a possible calendar slam, and Jordan Spieth makes his 10th attempt at completing the career Grand Slam. Names to watch: McIlroy (form), Cameron Young (momentum), and Keegan Bradley (won the 2018 BMW Championship at Aronimink and knows every blade of grass).

Ping G440 LST: Low Spin, Max Forgiveness. Wait, What?

Golf Digest's latest robot testing found something that shouldn't be possible: the Ping G440 LST, a low-spin driver, is posting forgiveness numbers that match or beat the max-forgiveness G440 K. At 95 mph swing speed, the LST averaged 223.6 yards of carry across all nine face zones, over five yards clear of the next-best head. Its worst zone-to-zone carry spread was 14.6 yards versus 25.2 for the G440 K. The low-spin head is now more forgiving than the forgiveness head. At $599, it's not cheap, but if you're gaming a G430 LST, the trade-off that used to exist (speed for stability) may no longer apply. Demo it against your current driver on a launch monitor. The data says the upgrade is real.

Cleveland 588 Tour Action: Nostalgia With Modern Guts

Cleveland brought back the wedge that defined the category. The Limited Edition 588 Tour Action is a three-club set (52°, 56°, 60°) built to Roger Cleveland's original 1988 specs but loaded with modern internals: Z-Alloy construction, ZipCore, HydraZip, and UltiZip grooves. MyGolfSpy's John Barba called it the equivalent of a grand slam for the brand. The catch: $588 for the three-piece box set, limited to 588 sets nationwide, with Tour Issue S400 shafts. If you're a wedge nerd who remembers what the original 588 did for short-game design, this is the collector's play. If you just need new wedges, the standard RTZ line gives you the same tech for less.
